Couples need to recognize that wedding photography encompasses more than just golden hour shots or documentary images. It involves coordinating & directing, mastering lighting, and documenting every moment, even the seemingly ordinary or boring. While I value the documentary style, it often relies on a skilled photographer who can direct and encourage natural moments, or a capable second shooter. I also see the importance of posed family portraits and capturing essential images that, while they may seem basic, are crucial for a complete galleries. Attention to detail such as hand positioning and creating a sense of connection among family members or wedding party is key. A good photographer must act as a director, guiding those who may not know how to pose. Using multiple lenses for different situations is also vital.
